アメリカ、カリフォルニア大学のW. Kohn 教授から地震のお見舞い
I have been thinking a great deal about you since the whole world became aware of the shocking triple disaster that has befallen Japan and particularly your own area of Sendai. I hope that this email will reach you, it is my first opportunity to contact you. I expect you must be overwhelmed by all kinds of terribly urgent problems, but that nevertheless you have been able to cope with them. If you can find a few
minutes, please drop me a few lines about how you are managing and let me know if I can be of help.
In my home town of Santa Barbara we have one of the best and most experienced private emergency aid organizations of the world, DIRECT
RELIEF INTERNATIONAL, with which I worked about 12 years ago in connection with the breakup of the Soviet Union, to provide unavailable medical supplies. They were also one of the most effective organizations in dealing with the recent devastating earthquake in Haiti. You can read
about them on the web. Particularly in the area of prompt medical supplies, they may well be at the very top of international organizations. Let me know of any urgent needs in your family, university or community that you are aware of and I will personally try to bring it to their attention.
With warmest good wishes,
